FAQs

BOD is a two day event, starting on Saturday 26th July and ending
Sunday 27th July.
Where is it taking place?
BOD takes place at the London Metropolitan University Student’s
Union " The Rocket Centre " Holloway, London, N7 8DB.
How can I get there?
There are various tube and train stations nearby but the closest
is Holloway Road tube, located on the Piccadilly Line.
What games are being featured?
There are four:
Hyper Street Fighter 2 (Super and Super Turbo Characters only)
on PS2
Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection on PS3
Capcom vs. SNK 2 on PS2
Street Fighter 3: Third Strike on PS2
Will there be casual play setups?
Yes! Just like all Neo Empire events, there will be many casual
setups where you can play against other people at the event without
the pressure of being in a tournament.
What happens if a contender wins
more than one tournament?
If a contender has chosen to enter multiple games and wins a tournament,
they will be withdrawn from all subsequent tournaments and will
be refunded the money they paid to enter those additional tournaments.
This will ensure that a player who has already qualified for Evolution
(and thus has nothing to lose) cannot maliciously alter the results
of any further tournaments at Battle of Destiny.
The Neo Empire staff appreciate that players may want the opportunity
to prove they are capable of winning events for multiple games,
but this step is required to ensure a fair deal for everyone that
takes part.
What happens if a player who wins
one of the tournaments cannot make it to Evolution?
The player who finished second place will be contacted and sent
in their place.
Why aren’t you using the DreamCast
/ SuperGun / PlayStation 1 / CCC2
version of Super Turbo?
Neo Empire originally intended to run Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo:
HD Remix for Battle of Destiny. However, during planning for the
event, we learnt that the game would not be finished in time.
Currently no one console version is universally accepted as an
arcade perfect port and each version has its own merits and flaws.
We have decided to run the tournament using the CapKore version
of Hyper Street Fighter 2, only allowing players to use Super
and Super Turbo characters. This is the most practical and logical
choice for us. Hyper Street Fighter 2 has appeared as a tournament
game for well over a year at Neo Empire Tournaments. Additionally,
most of the consoles we own are PS2s and almost all of our players
at recent events use a controller compatible with PS2. We hope
that the first opportunity anywhere in the UK to play HD Remix
and the prize of sending someone to Las Vegas goes some way into
making up for the lack of arcade perfect Super Turbo.
We would like to ask for your patience and understanding in the
choice of game used for this tournament.
Why isn’t HD Remix being used
at the event as a Tournament Game? It’s appearing at the
event isn’t it?
Yes the game will be shown off at the event, and you will be able
to play it! However, the game will not be the finished version.
We therefore cannot run a tournament on an unfinished game.
HD Remix is on Xbox360, will I be
able to use my own controller?
Neo Empire are in discussion with Capcom and Microsoft to offer
players the opportunity to experience HD Remix using both Arcade
Stick and Pad.
More concrete information will be posted on this site as soon
as we get it.
Will SFIV really be at the event?
It sounds too good to be true!
YES! The fighting game that everyone wants to play, SF IV, will
be at battle of Destiny, we have confirmation from Capcom themselves!
How will playtime be arranged with
SF IV? I don’t want to wait hours and hours to play.
Neo Empire will do our very best to ensure as many people as possible
get to play the game as much as possible. On the day, based on
the number of people at the event, the number of games a player
will be allowed to play at any one time will be controlled via
capping their winning streak.
Details will be given on the day, and will be announced via live
PA to all players. However, please note
that during the finals, all setups, including any SF IV cabinets
will be switched off as a mark of respect for the competitors
on stage.
Will I be able to play SF IV with
my own arcade stick / joypad / controller?
No. As the game is arriving in cabinet form, there is sadly no
way to plug an external controller into the cabinet.
